Best of 2016 | Bride & Groom

The end of 2016 is very quickly approaching & it has been an incredible year for weddings here at GAP! I was blessed to shoot weddings at so many gorgeous venues & with the most incredible couples that I'm devoting a whole blog series to the amazing-ness that were the 2016 weddings! In this series, I'll be highlighting my favorite images from the past year in all sort of categories like details, wedding party, reception, ceremony, etc. Of course, I had to start off with my absolute favorite category - Bride & Groom. It was incredibly difficult to choose which images to include, but I did my best to narrow it down. Enjoy!

click for Chris & Sarah's full blog post! Chris & Sarah were my first wedding of 2016 and they wed at one of the cutest wedding venues - Emma Creek Barn in Hesston, KS. Their wedding was filled with personality and sweet family traditions. The amount of love they have for each other was incredibly obvious & every minute of their day was picture perfect!

click for Matt & Katie's full blog post! I LOVED everything about Matt & Katie's big day! This couple is so adorable together - their whole day was full of laughter and sweet moments. One of my favorite things was the location Katie chose for their wedding party images in Andover, KS. It was the perfect backdrop for her stunningly classy bridal gown!

Ceremony and Reception Venue: St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church

Whew. Jim & Courtney's wedding day was an eventful one! On the way to the ceremony venue (a beautiful catholic church in a tiny town near Wichita), my car started having transmission issues. I pulled over, gave it a prayer or two, and it somehow fixed itself! It's a good thing I always leave at least 30 minutes early. The ceremony went perfectly and we managed to grab a few shots around the church before heading to the reception at the Mid-America Indian Center. On the way, we saw these GIANT storm clouds forming. And sure enough, by the time we got there it was pouring. Pouring. Luckily, I had grabbed my cute umbrella before heading out that morning, and Jim & Courtney were willing to pose in the rain for a few minutes! During the reception, it stopped raining so we were also able to grab a few more shots of the two of them with the Indian in the background - the location where Jim proposed!

click for Bailey & Lauren's full blog post! I've known Lauren since we were little, so getting to shoot her wedding was fantastic! She and her new husband, Bailey, make such an amazing looking couple. These two towered over me and I had to stand on my tiptoes (or on a chair) throughout their day!

Venue: Hidden Lakes Golf Course, Derby KS

click for Clark & Kasi's full blog post! Clark & Kasi were another eventful wedding day! (I quickly learned to love rainy weddings this year!) There were humongous black clouds over their venue as I was driving, so I knew it was a good choice to keep my pretty umbrella in the car - just in case. We managed to get most of the formal poses without the bride & groom together done and then hurried to get set up for the ceremony. The gorgeous outdoor venue (Redbud Party Barn - Douglass, KS) was stunning, but we could all hear the thunder crashing as the storm grew closer and closer. Kasi decided to start the ceremony a few minutes early to try and beat the weather, but the second she and her dad made it down the aisle the heavens opened up and it POURED. Most couples would have freaked, but they are not most couples. Instead, they just smiled big with every roll of thunder and announced as they went back down the aisle, "It doesn't matter! We're married!" They're the best.

click to see Brent & Karlye's full blog post! Brent & Karlye had some of my favorite wedding photos of the entire year (the last B&W image has got to be in my top 5)! We were drenched in sweat and covered in mosquitoes (thank you, Kansas summer), but it was worth it. And what's crazy, is that you wouldn't even be able to tell that these two were most likely miserable from the heat and bugs - they are crazy photogenic!

click here for Nic & Katie's full blog post! I've known Katie's family for years - when you're members of two of the biggest families in your town it's pretty hard not to know of each other. I was particularly excited to shoot Nic & Katie's wedding because I knew it would be full of energy and laughter! Turns out I was right. I laughed more during their wedding photos than I had in a long time! And I don't think I even need to mention how INCREDIBLE her dress is. I mean... she looked amazing.

Ceremony Venue: Holy Name Catholic Church - Winfield, KS

Reception Venue: The Wichita Boathouse

click here for Stephen & Esther's full blog post! Stephen & Esther both attended the small college here in my home town, so we had run in the same circles without really meeting for a while before they asked me to shoot their wedding. It was one of the warmest weddings I shot this year, but the images we got were so incredible that I could have stayed out in the heat all day! I couldn't have asked for a sweeter couple to photographer in that dreamy light. And because of that perfect light I had an even harder time than usual choosing just a few images! Love, love, love this wedding!

Venue: Quail Valley Farms

click here for Blake & Hannah's full blog post! Oh. My. Goodness. The heat may be insane, but nothing can beat that summer golden hour glow! This wedding had some of the best light of the year & we took full advantage of it. It also helped that Blake & Hannah could be models. For real. I think they should just both quit their jobs and start modeling. I'm pretty sure they didn't take a bad photo the entire day! Not only are they a stunning couple, but they are some of the sweetest people I've met. I was honored to be a part of their big day!

Venue: The Barns at Timber Creek

click here for Nikolche & Mackenzie's full blog post! Nikolche & Mackenzie were the last wedding of the year for me before I took some time off to relax before becoming a mom! They sure made it a memorable one. Nikolche is from Macedonia, so their day was a mixture of American and Macedonian traditions, food, music, and dancing. What made this day even better was that it was held at one of my favorite venues in the area - Marland Mansion - Ponca City, OK.
